April 29 2024: New Executive Order Seeks to Protect Americans’ Sensitive Data from Countries of Concern


President Biden has recently issued Executive Order 14117 titled “Preventing Access to
Americans’ Bulk Sensitive Data and United States Government-Related Data by Countries of Concern” (the “Order”), which directs the Department of Justice (DOJ) and multiple other federal departments and agencies to promulgate new rules and regulations to restrict the large- scale transfer of sensitive personal data and United States Government-related data to “countries of concern.”

April 22, 2024: Proposed California Bill to Increase Fines for Corporate Offenders


California lawmakers are advancing legislation - Assembly Bill 2432 (“AB 2432”) - that
seeks to impose enhanced penalties on corporations found guilty of felonies and
misdemeanors. The bill was introduced in February of this year and co-sponsored by
the California Attorney General in April. The proposed measure aims to increase
support for crime victim services by generating additional funding through increased
corporate fines.
